SURGICAL TREATMENT FOR THE FAR PULMONARY TUBERCULOSIS

Abstract
Though the effects of the nummerous antituberous drugs for early pulmonary
tuberculosis and the adequate surgical treatment for the pulm. Tubercurous patients
have marked a great epoch in recent year, still another problems associated with the
increase of the far advanced pulm. Tuberculosis which do not respond for durg therapy
due to the o§¦urane of resistant strain, postoperative complications and depression of the
cardiorespiratory function are we faced with.
The author examined the results of chemotherapy and surgical treatment for 82 cases
of the far advanced pulm. tuberculosis and following observations have been made.
1. Recently it is a noteworthy thing that the far advanced pulm. Tuberculosis tend to
increase due to the inadequate and interrupted long term chemotherapy. These are
almost the drug resistant cases which have persistent positive sputum.
2. The criteria of the surgical treatment for such far advanced cases is the prevention
of post-operative complication and the study of cardio-respirators function.
3. The thoracoplasty for these far advanced cases should be reconcidered from the
point of view of cardio-respiratory function.
4. The pneumonectomy is concidered as an operation of choice for these far advanced
cases than the lobectomy combined with segmental resection.
